Travel Insurance and ETIAS

Keep in mind that most countries are now requiring travel insurance as well as ETIAS travel authorization for visa-free visitors.

This is not the same as obtaining a visa. It’s an electronic requirement similar to the US ESTA and has been established in order to identify security, irregular migration or high epidemic risks presented by visa-exempt visitors traveling to the Schengen States.

The ETIAS requirement will be enforced and take effect for visa-free visitors traveling to Europe beginning January 1, 2023. Learn more about it here.
