As it starts warming up, that means more time under the sun. Not only do we need to keep our body’s hydrated, we also need to keep our skin hydrated while keeping it free and clear from toxic chemicals. What we put on our skin plays a huge role in keeping it healthy, glowing and youthful without the added sun damage.
So, if you’re looking to step up your sun-care routine and protect your skin from pre-mature aging in a cruelty-free and healthy kinda way, I’ve got you covered from head to toe! With so many vegan and cruelty-free options out there now, it can get overwhelming so I’ve done the research for you and gathered up some of my top picks.
Personally, I don’t put too much sunscreen on my body only where I know I’ll burn the most which is my face, chest and shoulders which is why I love the After Sun Chest Mask from Pacifica. Makes for a perfect soothing option to keep your skin hydrated and protected from sun damage. Pacifica also has an After Sun Pineapple + Flower Body Spray you can use to spritz your body with after being out in the sun for a nice refreshing cool down. These are available online at Ulta or on Amazon.
For a more economical sunscreen option, Alba Hawaiin Sunscreen has been one of my go-to’s for years. It smells good and it works great but I’m ready to try something new. I’m between the Pacifica Bronzing Body Oil and COOLA Organic Sunscreen Spray. Leaning more toward the bronzing oil for more of a tanning, burn-free option! 🙂
If you like more of a creamy type sunscreen, Biossance Sheer Mineral Sunscreen and Supergoop Glow Screen are both great choices. Supergoop also comes in an oil-free option, if you prefer no oil in your sunscreen.
I am eye-balling the COOLA Scalp & Hair Sunscreen SPF 30 to add sun protection to my hair and scalp though because the sun can over dry your hair and burn the scalp at the same time believe it or not. Not good for hair health in the least. Another option is the SunBum Heat Protector Spray with nourishing extracts or a nourishing Avocado Hair Mask treatment you can do at the end of the day.
Lets not forget about lip balms either!
I know there have been many times where I’ve left the beach with sun blisters on my lips. If you’ve experienced these, then you know they are awful and not fun to have at all. So let’s keep our lips protected too, shall we?
If you expect to be in the sun for a long period of your day at any time this Spring or Summer, I highly recommend getting yourself a good sun protecting lip sunscreen like COOLA Organic Lip Balm, SunBum Lip Balm, or Supergoop PLAY Lip Balm to name a few. SunBum also has a CocoBalm 6 pack with ingredients like coconut oil, vitamin-e, aloe vera – perfect for stocking up.
Let me know which one you find to be your favorite choice. Would love to hear how you like it!
