How Living Vegan Helps Our Planet and How You Can too

When I went vegan a little over 8 years ago, never in a million years would I have thought I’d be preaching about living cruelty-free, sustainability or the environment. 

I started my transition out of fear for cancer, illness and disease but never with the animals or the earth in mind. Not because I didn’t care but because I hadn’t made the connection yet, nor did I have the knowledge base. It wasn’t long before I realized that I was never “vegan,” I was plant-based. 

Living vegan is not just about food, it’s also about living cruelty-free. From the products we use on our body to those in our home. Above ALL, ♥ it’s about the animals ♥ (land and sea) and seeing them as living beings who love, feel, and are just as smart, if not smarter than humans. They’re not objects to do what we want with, they are LIVING BEINGS who need and deserve love, kindness and respect.

As I continued on, I learned about the environment, sustainability, our planet and how we as humans are the cause of its destruction. I learned that everything is interconnected and how we treat our health, the animals and our planet is critical for our survival. 

Do you realize that without this earth, we wouldn’t have a place to live? 

We live on a beautiful planet, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the abundant supply of plant food God has provided for us to eat from the earth. It is our duty to respect, take care of and nurture these precious gifts. Not destroy them. This includes the animals that he so loves. 

There’s no doubt that living a vegan lifestyle is the single best way to turn this world around for the better.

What can you do? 

Whether you are looking to go all in or start by trying, a great place to start is by watching a documentary like Cowspiracy or Seaspiracy. Watch with family or friends to inspire others to join you.

Take the Challenge 22 or the 31 Day Challenge from Veganuary – Both are free and take you step-by-step to make it easy to keep moving. 

Swap out household products with vegan, cruelty-free and sustainable options that work amazingly well and benefit the earth and everyone on it. You don’t have to do it all at once, just start with one and go from there. 

Switch out your toxic and animal testing products with cleaner, eco-friendly, better for the environment, vegan and cruelty-free products. Keep in mind that not all eco-friendly products are vegan and cruelty-free so be sure to shop with a conscious mind. 

Start incorporating plant-based meals into your days like starting with a “Meatless Monday” or a “Taco Tuesday” using beyond meat crumbles, walnut meat, or just veggies and avocado.
