With so many types of wellness spas on the rise from massage therapy and float spas to salt spas and salt caves, people are taking advantage of every opportunity to jump on board the healing train to cultivate wellness for the mind and body and to help prevent covid from creeping in.
I for one am one of them and since stress is the culprit for weakening and breaking down the immune system, keeping stress levels under control is my top priority!
Exercise and nutrition are without a doubt a must for keeping healthy but even then, there are other practices you can incorporate to safeguard your health. You can never do more than enough and if you ask me, everything is worth trying if it means building up your wall of defense.
So, this week, I’m trying out the Lake Norman Salt Spa which I’ve heard nothing but great things about.
Hallway to the salt room.
It was my first time going to one so I was excited to see what the “salt spa” craze is all about.
Weekday mornings aren’t as busy so I was able to get the room to myself. Normally, they can seat up to 7 people at a time but because of covid, they’ve minimized their rooms to holding 2 per session. At least in the room I was in.
If you don’t know what a salt spa is, it’s a self-healing Halotherapy treatment of pure pharmaceutical grade himalyan salt that is known to alleviate allergies, asthma, respiratory issues, chronic bronchitis and smoke-related symptoms that may cause shortness of breath and wheezing. It’s a great way to boost your immune system and recharge your defenses.
The way this works is, you sit in a holistically inviting salt room where the walls are embedded with salt stones and the ground is covered in pounds of Himalayan salt.
Socks are required during the session.
Before the session begins, they chime a tibetan bowl and start the halogenerator to begin dispersing the salt into the air. You then breathe in the salt particles released into the air which work to absorb irritants such as allergens and toxins from the respiratory system.
It’s a soothing and healing process.
All you have to do is relax, take deep breaths and let the relaxation music ease your mind. Makes for a perfect meditation practice all in one!🧘🏻♀️
Sessions range from 25 minutes to 50 minutes depending on the length of session you choose.
It’s one of the most relaxing and healing experiences I’ve ever had.
But be prepared to be covered in salt!😯
They also have an infrared therapy room which looks super relaxing and inviting. Something I look forward to trying next!
Diane was kind enough to explain the benefits and show me how it works.
Whether you live in the area or are just visiting, stop in for a session and experience the ambience of this quaint, welcoming and healing environment for yourself.
You’ll feel the healing begin from the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out the door. You will feeling refreshed and recharged. I’ll definitely be going back for more!
Have you ever been to a salt spa? Comment down below and let me know how your first experience went. I’d love to hear all about it!😊
