Salad making is a big part of living the raw food lifestyle and a daily affair your body will just love.  Making it a daily habit will quickly prove to be one of the best decisions for your health you could possibly make and best of all it’s easy!

Not all salads are healthy…

It’s important to understand that not all salads are healthy.  What you put in them and how you make them, plays a major role on whether or not the end meal is fully nutritious and digestible.

Get creative with your salad making while varying your fruits and veggies to keep you moving forward and coming back for more, but be sure to keep your meals simple, in minimal combination for optimal digestion and maximum nutrient absorption.  I promise, your body will love you for it!

Remember, more doesn’t always mean healthy.

This super nourishing and alkalizing kale salad is one of my favorite salads to make and it includes massaging in a lemon, nutritional yeast mixture for added nutrients, vitamins, and minerals including complex B vitamins, specifically vitamin B12 which is hard to come by for vegans and vegetarians. As an added bonus, it adds a flavorful kick to your healthy veggie meal.

Because kale is a tougher green and harder to digest, taking additional steps to soften the leaves and break up the enzymes will allow for optimum digestion and nutrient absorption.  Massaging in the lemon juice does just that.

Highly nutritious, nutrient bursting, Raw & Alive salad that will bring your body to an alkaline state and get your energy juices flowing.

Ingredients
Kale Salad
  • 3 large kale leaves (leaves only - no stems)
  • 1 large cucumber sliced (peel skin if non-organic)
  • 2 cups red (purple) cabbage (shredded)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup heirloom cherry tomatoes (about 14-20)
  • 2 tbsp raw veggie dehydrated flakes
Dressing (lemon mixture)
  • 2 small lemons juiced
  • 4 tbsp Bob Mill's nutritional yeast
  • 1/4 tsp ground turmeric
Instructions
Lemon Mixture
  1. Combine lemon juice, ground turmeric, and nutritional yeast. Mix well.

  2. Massage mixture well into kale greens then set aside for a few minutes to let greens marinade. 

Salad
  1. Combine all other veggie ingredients with kale greens.

  2. Pour remaining lemon mixture over salad, mix well, and enjoy!

 

Keep in mind that salads play a huge roll in alkalizing the body so be sure to incorporate salads into your life daily to help maintain an acid/alkaline balance.
